Starting as a freelance journalist, Anshu left a corporate job in 1998 and founded Goonj with a mission to make clothing a matter of concern and to bring it among the list of subjects to work on, for the development sector.
Under his leadership Goonj has taken the menacing growth of urban waste and used it efficiently as a tool to trigger large scale rural development work.By creating a barter between two new currencies; labor of the beneficiaries and old material of cities, Anshu has built the genesis of a parallel economy which is not cash based but trash based.
Dr. Danfeng Li is a seasoned technology leader with 15+ years’ experience of applying machine learning and data mining to real world problem, leveraging big data in a variety of areas including structure and unstructured search, rank and relevance, behavioral targeting and online advertising, retail and marketing, credit/debit card and online banking fraud detection, and risk management.
Dr. Li is currently the Chief Scientist at Umeng+, a business unit in Alibaba group. He leads the data science team to drive innovation using online and on mobile user behavior data. Before he joined Alibaba, Dr. Li was a principal development lead in Microsoft. He also worked at Opera Solutions, Yahoo and Fico. Dr. Li received his Ph.D. degree from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, and bachelor degree from Tsinghua University.
Hari Krishnan leads seed investments at Astarc Ventures as the Fund Manager. He has over 12 years of experience, of which over 6 years as an entrepreneur - co-founded a startup in the education space that raised Angel Investment before getting acquired by a listed education player.
His current portfolio of disclosed investments include Foyr, TravelKhana, AbsentiaVR, Wooplr and Rapido. Prior to Astarc, Hari served as the Senior Vice President at Venture Intelligence, a leading research firm on VC, PE and M&A deal activity in India.
Hari began his career as a Software Engineer at Patni Computer Systems (currently iGate) and has an integrated Masters in Management from BITS Pilani.

Ambareesh Murty turned entrepreneur and launched Pepperfry.com in January 2012. In less than three years, he has established Pepperfry as India’s leading Online Furniture and Home marketplace with over a million customers.
Prior to founding Pepperfry, he was the Country Manager of eBay India, Philippines and Malaysia, where he step jumped eBay’s growth by tailoring products and processes to local requirements while delivering a superior customer experience. During his tenure with eBay he also served as the Vice Chairman of the Internet & Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).

Manish Kothari, Ph.D., is president of SRI Ventures and is a vice president of SRI International, a nonprofit research and innovation center that, among other things, invented the mouse and spawned companies such as Siri and Intuitive Surgical.
In this role, Manish leads the creation of high-value venture opportunities and is intimately involved in the venture creation process from concept through market development, technology transition, seed funding, partner and investor identification.

Guru Bhat joined PayPal in 2015 as the General Manager of the Chennai Technology Center in India. He currently leads the technology centers in Bangalore and Chennai and is the Global Engineering Leader for PayPal’s Transaction Orchestration and Platforms organization.
With over 19 years of experience in the technology sector, Guru is responsible for driving PayPal’s technology strategy in India as the company builds out next-generation payment solutions and services.
Guru previously headed R&D Operations for Ericsson R&D India where he was responsible for organizational efficiency and effectiveness for Ericsson’s IP, Cloud, Analytics and Network Functions business units. Guru graduated with a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo and worked as a Lead Architect for Sun Microsystems and subsequently Oracle for a total of 12 years in Boston, Massachusetts. Upon his return to India in 2007, Guru was the lead architect of SAP’s Cloud Platform Group in Bangalore and subsequently served as Managing Director of Serus Corp, before joining Ericsson.

In a career spanning over three decades, Ganesh has come to be respected and acknowledged for his contributions as a practitioner, consultant, coach and thought leader in the field of Organisation Development, Human Resources Management and Executive Coaching. After a successful corporate career in Human Resources for 16 years (in organisations like Cadburys, TVS, Citibank and RPG), Ganesh Chella founded totus consulting in June 2000. He is the author of two books and over a 100 published articles. His book “Creating a Helping Organisation – 5 engaging ways to promote employee performance growth and well – being” provides path breaking insights into the helping needs of Indian employees and the place of various helping relationships to address these needs. Ramesh Srinivasan is currently CEO of Ooyala Inc. and oversees all aspects of Ooyala's strategy and operations.
Ramesh is a veteran leader and innovator, with a passion for technology and a strong track record in scaling public companies. He started his career in general management before switching to application software. Ramesh began his US career in Sept, 1988 as an application software programmer and then advanced to executive positions at major corporations like Manhattan Associates and Bally Technologies.
Before joining Ooyala, Ramesh was President and Chief Executive Officer of Innotrac, a leading provider of e-commerce solutions for digital retailers. He also spent nine years with Bally Technologies (NYSE: BYI – later merged with Scientific Games), maker of advanced technology-based casino games and systems, where he rose from Executive Vice President for Systems to CEO. During his tenure, the annual revenue run rate for the company grew from $500 million to $1.2 billion. Prior to joining Bally, Ramesh was EVP at Manhattan Associates (Nasdaq: MANH), a premier Supply Chain Solutions Provider. During his seven years at Manhattan, Ramesh’s results-based performance led his to his elevation from Director to EVP, while the company’s annual revenues grew by approximately 500%. At Manhattan, Ramesh was responsible for building a world class Product Development, Services and Support Centre in Bangalore, India and his leadership in multiple areas, including cost effective Global R&D, Customer Support, Professional and Technical Services was instrumental in positioning Manhattan as a technology industry leader.

Ashok Soota, Executive Chairman, Happiest Minds is one of the pioneering leaders of the Indian IT industry and serial entrepreneur. Prior to Happiest Minds, he was founding Chairman & MD of MindTree (1999 – 2011) which he led to a very successful IPO. He was also President of Wipro’s Technology business from 1984-99 and led it to becoming India’s second largest IT Company. Ashok has held many leadership positions for Indian Industry including President of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and President of Manufacturers’ Association of Information Technology. He has received many recognitions for his contribution to India’s IT industry and has served on Prime Minister’s Task Force for IT and on the Advisory Council for the World Intellectual Property Organization, Geneva.
Ashok’s philanthropic contributions are channeled through Ashirvadam, a Trust he has created for Environmental protection and help for the needy including vocational training, education and medical assistance. Ashok holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Roorkee University (now IIT, Roorkee) and an MBA from the Asian Institute of Management, Philippines. Ashok’s hobbies include trekking, yoga, taichi, meditation and swimming.
Rinku is the founder of Chennai Volunteers (CV). Started in August 2011, Chennai Volunteers is a social venture that aims to foster civic engagement and ensure that volunteers can engage with non-profits in a sustainable and meaningful way. The CV web portal is a dynamic tool for volunteers to find various opportunities, locate local partners besides enabling NGOs to share resources and exchange best practices, 24 x 7. CV facilitates the process of building a more supportive infrastructure for NGOs. With a volunteer base of over 10,000 volunteers, they have partnered with over 140 NGOs/institutions across our city, covering a broad cross-section of causes.

Anup Bagchi is the Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Securities. “Kris” Gopalakrishnan served as the Vice-Chairman of Infosys from 2011 to 2014 and the chief executive officer and managing director of Infosys from 2007 to 2011. Kris is one of the co-founders of Infosys. Recognized as a global business and technology thought leader, he was voted the top CEO (IT Services category) in Institutional Investor's inaugural ranking of Asia's Top Executives and selected as one of the winners of the second Asian Corporate Director Recognition Awards by Corporate Governance Asia in 2011. He also was selected to Thinkers 50, an elite list of global business thinkers, in 2009. He was elected president of India's apex industry chamber Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for 2013-14, and served as one of the co-chairs of the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2014. In January 2011, the Government of India awarded Mr. Gopalakrishnan the Padma Bhushan, the country’s third-highest civilian honour.

Rajiv Lochan is the Managing Director and CEO of Kasturi & Sons Ltd (most famously known as The Hindu Group of Publications in India). He heads all non-editorial operations and is the first non-family member on the Board in the company’s 137-year history. Rajiv also devotes time to the social sector in the areas of public health and financial inclusion. He is a Trustee Board member of IKP Trust, a not-for-profit organisation focussed on leveraging knowledge and technology to drive innovation in public health. He is also on the Board of IFMR Trust Financial Holdings, an entity focussed on delivering financial products and services to the bottom of the pyramid in rural geographies in India. Rajiv is an alumnus partner of McKinsey’s India practice and one of the firm’s founding partners of its Chennai practice. At McKinsey, Rajiv served over 30 institutions, including 25 banks and financial institutions in India, South-east Asia and the US. Prior to McKinsey, Rajiv worked for American Express Company in New York. He holds an undergraduate degree from IIT, Madras, and an MS from MIT, Cambridge, MA, and an MBA from the Columbia Business School in New York.
R Gopu, son of G. Rangarathnam, Advocate of Madras High Court, and Pushpa, a housewife with an MPhil in economics, (both no more) was born and brought up in Madras. He studied at the CIT Colony English Primary School and PS Senior Seconday School in Mylapore and Gill Adarsh Matric school in Royapettah. He obtained a BE in Computer Engineering from Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering (now a deemed university) in Srivilliputhur and an MS in Computer Science from the Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, USA. He then worked in the US, as a software engineer, mostly at Microsoft in Seattle; but also brief stints at MicroAge in Arizona and Decide.Com in California.
Bored of software, he returned to India to pursue a career in writing and screenwriting. But his interest turned in other directions.
Three books dramatically changed his way of thinking and his life : 1. "Guns, Germs & Steel", by Jared Diamond - a History of Man before man started writing history; 2. "The Lexus and the Olive Tree", by Thomas Friedman, a overarching view of modern globalization; 3. "Sivakaamiyin Sabatham" by Kalki Krishnamoorthy, which ignited a passion for temples, sculptures, and Indian history, which is yet to abate.
He has since been reading books on economics, evolution, genetics, history and astronomy. He has lectured on some of these subjects in the last few years. He wrote an essay on Aryabhata for The Week magazine and a series of essays on scientists for the New Indian Express. He's also learning Sanskrit to better understand India and our heritage. Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala is a currently an Institute Chair professor at IIT Madras where he leads the Telecommunications and Computer Networks (TeNeT) group. He has been instrumental in leading several efforts in incubation and creation of start-ups at IIT Madras. In 2006 he conceptualized the idea of setting up a society for the incubation of rural technologies and businesses: IITM's Rural Technology and Business Incubator. Currently, he is the vice-Chairman of IITM’s incubation cell. Dr. Ashok Jhunjhunwala has been awarded Padma Shri in the year 2002 and the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in 1998 besides several other awards and prizes. He has been awarded Honorary Doctorates by the Institute of Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden in 2008 and University of Maine, USA in 2010. He was a member of the Prime Minister's Scientific Advisory Committee from 2004-14.

Prior to founding PipeCandy, Ashwin had bootstrapped and scaled ContractIQ, a global app development marketplace which currently has over 5000 vendors from 60+ countries. Ashwin's interests at work revolve around sales, content, design and organization culture.

Ranjit Punja is a 23-year veteran with Citibank, who had oversight of the Collections function for all international consumer lending businesses in 53 countries in his last assignment, and had previously managed the Collections operation for Citi’s U.S. credit card business. He has extensive global experience, in both Corporate and Retail Banking, and specializes in risk management operations. He has worked across multiple international geographies and has a thorough understanding of collections and back-office operations.
Ranjit did his schooling in Chennai, from Don Bosco in Egmore, and then his B.Com and M.Com from Loyola College in Chennai. He then went on to complete his MBA from the University of Wisconsin in the USA. He joined Citibank in 1989 and has had varied experience in Retail and Corporate Banking, both in India and overseas. He has had long stints with Citibank in Istanbul, Turkey and in New York.
Ranjit was born in Chennai and relocated back to the city that he calls home. He is a keen tennis player, an avid marathon runner and enjoys riding his motorcycle and bicycle on weekends.
Chandrasekar started his career at MicroStrategy, a leading data mining and analytics rm in USA. Later, he moved on to work for Morgan Stanley and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, before starting his own retirement solutions company – ExpertPlan. Currently, ExpertPlan is the number 1 third-party online administrator for retirement solutions in USA. He returned to India in 2003 and started an o -shore software solutions rm, Arrowpoint Technologies, which specialises in nancial applications for clients across the globe. After witnessing the dearth of online mutual fund investing platforms, Chandrasekar decided to establish FundsIndia with his close friend, Srikanth Meenakshi.
Chandrasekar received his Masters degree in Computer Science at the Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia. Through FundsIndia, he aims to educate and empower investors so that they can comprehend and execute the knowledge acquired towards making smart investments.
Tanaz Buhariwalla, Director for IDA Ireland in India has worked with IDA for over six years. Along with her team, Tanaz helps Indian companies set up in Ireland and leverage their Irish presence to trade across Europe.

Previously Tanaz worked for the British High Commission in India helping British companies do business in India and Indian companies set up in the UK. Over her 25 years career, Tanaz has engaged with MNCs, conglomerates, large corporates, SMEs and start-ups alike helping them in their plans for European growth. This has helped her develop in-depth experience in aligning company needs to business opportunities in the European markets. Some companies Tanaz has recently assisted expand their footprint within Europe include HCL, NIIT, Tech Mahindra, mid-sized companies like BrowserStack, SMT, Biotech Visioncare amongst others.
Tanaz is a Commerce graduate from the Mumbai University and a post graduate in Change Management from the Open University, UK.
