In his present role, Mr. Singh is in charge of the overall growth strategy of the company,
technology innovation, operations and business dimensions. He is also the Founder of
Gramcover, a technology backed insurance distribution business in rural India.
Founded in 2004, Skymet Weather is India's largest private-sector weather forecasting,
monitoring & agriculture risk Solutions Company, experts in measuring, predicting & limiting
climate risk. It has the capability to create hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal & long
term forecasts including monsoon; employs its own team of operational meteorology,
numeric weather prediction modeling (NWP), remote sensing, statistical data analysis,
software/ computing & multimedia & has a well-equipped in-house studio replete with a TV
Prior to being an entrepreneur, Mr. Singh was associated with TV Today Group, as an
Assistant Producer and anchor. Before joining the group, he was a reporter with
ANI/Reuters handling multiple verticals such as National Broadcasting Corporation (New
Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir) and a news bulletin carried in the United States, the South
Asian Newsline. He was also an Associate Producer for the Singapore based 24-hour news
network, Channel News Asia.
After completing his undergraduate program in Political Science from Kirori Mal College in
Delhi, Mr. Singh did his Masters in International Relations & International Communications,
from Boston University, Boston, USA.
Under his able leadership, his venture Skymet has won several noteworthy accolades. In
2009, Skymet was chosen as one of the 10 companies with game-changing solutions to
climate change by the Economist. In 2010, Mr. Singh was featured as one of the winners of
CNBC TV18 Young Turks. In 2013, America’s leading business magazine, Fast Company, listed
Skymet as top 10 innovative companies from India. In the prestigious ‘India Business Leader
Awards 2019’ Skymet was nominated as one of the disruptors amongst several leading
brands like Netflix, Big Basket and Zerodha. Fortune India Magazine said that private players such
as Skymet is efficiently complementing Indian Meteorological Department. Even, The Economic
Times, observed, that Skymet’s long-range forecast, has played a major role in the Indian
commodities market across the years with its unbiased empirical approach.
Today, Skymet is in the panel of NITI Ayog for laying out the guideline of UAV or drone flying
in India for Agriculture. The company is also a member of the sustainable development
network at the World Bank.
